FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some of the most frequently asked questions.  You can contact us with any other questions you have.

Question:  How do you know the windows cost with installation included without looking at my home?

Answer:  90% of the time the installation process for double hung style  replacement windows on homes built before 1990 is "standard".  An estimator must confirm all install factors for your particular home before providing a confirmed price quote.

Question:  I've gotten estimates from some of the companies on TV.  Why are they more expensive?

Answer:  They are excellent and reputable companies but the primary reason they cost more is because they spend huge amounts of money on advertising.  TV advertising especially is very expensive and the cost gets past onto the customer.  Just because they charge more does not mean they better.  Although they may have slick sales people tell you otherwise.

Question:  I have old double pane windows now and want to install triple panes.  Do I qualify for the Mass Save rebate?

Answer:  Unfortunately no.  Mass Save guideline dictate that you must be replacing single panes to qualify for the rebate.

Question:  What is the difference between "replacement windows" and "new construction windows"?

Answer:  90% of the time, when replacing old windows, you only need "replacement windows".  However, if your home was built AFTER 1990 with vinyl windows and vinyl siding, you may need "new construction windows".  This means you need to remove the vinyl siding in order to get the old windows out.  It also means you need to replace the interior trim around the windows.  It is a much more involved process and also costs significantly more.  An estimator can determine if this is needed.

Question:  How long does it take to get the windows installed after ordering.

Answer:  This will vary depending on the time of year and the product options.  Generally it is about 4-6 weeks.

Question:  How long does the windows installation process take.

Answer:  On a "standard" installation, 10 windows can be installed in one day and 20 windows installed in two days.  Replacing a door can be done in a single day.  If any trim is needed, this will add to the total time.

Question:  Does the color affect the price of vinyl siding?

Answer:  Although most colors are the same price, dark colors may cost 5%-10% more because of the color pigments.

Question:  How long does the vinyl siding installation process take.

Answer:  An "average" size home can be completed in about a week.  Larger homes may take 7-10 working days.
