FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some of the most frequently asked questions.  You can contact us with any other questions you have.

Question:  How do you know the cost with installation included without looking at my home?

Answer:  90% of the time the installation process for replacement windows on homes built before 1990 is "standard".  An estimator must always confirm all installation factors for your particular home before providing a confirmed price quote.

Question:  I've gotten estimates from some of the companies on TV.  Why are they more expensive?

Answer:  They are excellent and reputable companies but the primary reason they cost more is because they spend huge amounts of money on advertising.  TV advertising especially is very expensive and the cost gets past onto the customer.  Just because they charge more does not mean they better.  Although they may have slick sales people tell you otherwise.

Question:  Do your windows qualify for the Mass Save rebate?

Answer:  Yes, but with these Mass Save requirements.  The old windows you have now must be single pane.  The new windows being installed must be triple pane and Energy Star rated most efficient.  You must have utility service with either National Grid or Eversource Energy.  The rebate is $75 per window.

Question:  Do your windows qualify for the Federal energy tax credit?

Answer:  Yes, but the new windows must be triple pane and Energy Star rated most efficient.  The old windows you have now do not need to be single pane and it does not matter who you have utility service with.  The tax credit is $600 total.

Question:  What is the difference between "replacement windows" and "new construction windows"?

Answer:  90% of the time, when replacing old windows, you only need "replacement windows".  However, if your home was built AFTER 1990 with vinyl windows and vinyl siding, you may need "new construction windows".  This means you need to remove the vinyl siding in order to get the old windows out.  It also means you need to replace the interior trim around the windows.  It is a much more involved process and also costs significantly more.  An estimator can determine if this is needed.

Question:  What is the warranty on the windows and the installation?

Answer:  We offer a Lifetime Warranty on the Classic series and Tribute series.  The Slimline series is twenty years.  We offer a Lifetime Warranty on the original workmanship regardless of which series you choose.

Question:  How long does it take to get the windows installed after ordering.

Answer:  This will vary depending on the time of year and the product options.  Generally it is about 4-6 weeks.

Question:  How long does the installation process take.

Answer:  On a "standard" installation, 10 windows can be installed in one day and 20 windows installed in two days.  Replacing a door can be done in a single day.  If any trim is needed, this will add to the total time.
