All of Our Windows Have Energy Efficient Glass
Current building codes require that all new windows being installed meet strict energy efficiency codes. The windows will have at least two panes with a gas between the panes, called Argon Gas, and a reflective coating on the glass called Low E. This transparent coating reflects heat back in the direction it came from. In winter, it keeps inside your home so your furnace does not come as often. In summer, it keeps the outside heat on the outside so your air conditioner does not run as hard.
Double Pane vs Triple Pane Windows
The current level of energy efficiency on double panes windows, as required by Massachusetts building code, is very good. Triple pane windows will improve the energy efficiency level even more but triple pane windows cost $100 more per window than double pane windows.
One of the reason some people choose triple pane windows is because of the improved sound reduction against outside noise. If you live on, or near, a busy and noisy street, you may consider triple pane windows for this reason.
